TANGRAM landscapes is an exploration into the interaction of creator and reader. As creator, I reflect the image of the living God, literally, “let us create man into our own image.” The initial installation echoes God’s creation of the heavens and the earth it is defined by order and perfection and manifests both heavenly and earthly forms.

The reader, or audience, has dominion over the creation and may manipulate the forms as he or she pleases. Similar to the earth, this installation is ever changing yet maintains the fingerprint of God. Possible solutions have been placed along a horizon line in the gallery.

TANGRAMS have long been a favorite puzzle solved by the young and old alike. The invention of the ancient Chinese puzzle is unrecorded in history, but has been enjoyed by historical figures such as Napoleon, Queen Victoria, and Lewis Carroll. Tangrams are constructed of seven pieces that are cut from a square. These seven pieces then are arranged into endless combinations to create recognizable yet abstracted forms.
